Our fee structures involve lawyer and non-lawyer rates, based on market rates, our experience, and the complexity of the case. We charge a separate hourly rate for work performed by the lawyer’s staff. Your bill reflects all of the time the lawyer and non-lawyer staff actually spend working on your case, including research, writing, and phone calls made to discuss your legal matter.
Hourly: Legal services are recorded in six-minute, or 1/10 of an hour, increments. We will typically request a deposit (sometimes known as a retainer) to bill against as we work on your case, and will often ask that it be replenished at different times.
Fixed or Flat Fees: The fee is based on a case being routine, and the knowledge of forms. A finite set of services outlined in a flat fee agreement.
Contingency: The lawyer is paid a percentage of the money that you receive, whether from a settlement or winning after trial. If you do not receive any money, or lose, then the attorney does not receive a fee. Out-of-pocket expenses must be paid as they are incurred.
Costs & Expenses: These include, but are not limited to, court filing fees, process server fees, records request and search fees, subpoena fees, witness fees, publication fees, transcriptionist fees, professional service fees, city and county fees, asset transfer fees, court appearance fees, Information Technology fees, postage, mileage, and copying costs.
You are the client and must pay the fees and expenses, whether or not the court awards you any attorney fees. At the same time, we offer services to assist you in the collection of your attorney fee award.
